Telecommunications Access Iowa and Relay Iowa are teaming up with the Urbandale Public Library to host a series of virtual book reading events for D/HH children during September as part of our Deaf Awareness Month.
There will be an informational fair on Sept. 10 where attendees can join and learn more about deaf programs and services around Iowa.
On Sept. 26, Dylan Heuer will be one of the leads as he reads the history about Dummy Hoy, the first Deaf baseball player who helped change the game as we know it today.
Also, on Sept. 9, 14, 21, and 28, Zoom Into Reading is a series of book club geared for children. We will be reading “You Don’t Know Everything Jilly P!” by Alex Gino, which is about Deaf Culture, how to interact with Deaf people, and correct common misconceptions.

ASL Interpreters will be provided, and CART can be requested.
